It is under the name ODEL, a contraction of my first name,
Odette, and my last name, Lapointe, that I would like to
introduce myself to you.

ODEL… A name that borrows from the word ode and ends with
the sound of the French word aile (wing). A name that reflects
both the close attention I pay to the words I translate and
the incredible feeling of weightlessness that engulfs me when
I sculpt. A name that unites the meticulous translator and
the imaginative sculptor.

It is my belief that, although diametrically opposed in their
means of expression, both translation and sculpture stem from
the need to communicate. Whereas the first relates to the need
to link two linguistic communities by providing them with a
common area of understanding, the second answers the need
to combine antinomic forces in a single space: spirituality and
sensuality, humanity and environment, eternity and transience.

of my two current materials of choice, resin and stone.
